The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a warning regarding Tropical Storm Yinxing, known as Marce in the Philippines, which is expected to enter the 800-kilometer warning zone of Hong Kong by 2 AM on November 9. Currently, the storm is located approximately 1,450 kilometers east-southeast of Manila and is moving northwest at about 30 kilometers per hour towards the Luzon Strait.
Yinxing is the 13th tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), where it has been designated the name Marce by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). As of 4 AM today, it has sustained winds of 65 km/h and gusts reaching up to 80 km/h, positioned 935 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. Although no tropical cyclone wind signals have been raised in the Philippines, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be issued for parts of Cagayan on Tuesday.
As the storm approaches Hong Kong, it is expected to strengthen into a typhoon. However, the Observatory has warned that the storm's trajectory and development remain uncertain.
Currently, the region is experiencing the effects of the northeast monsoon, resulting in cloudy conditions along the western coast of Guangdong. Today's weather forecast for Hong Kong predicts sunny intervals with some rain patches this morning and tonight, with maximum temperatures reaching around 29 degrees Celsius. Moderate east to northeasterly winds will be present, occasionally freshening offshore.
In the coming days, Hong Kong's weather is anticipated to improve, becoming fine and dry with slightly cooler mornings as the week progresses. A dry replenishment of the northeast monsoon is expected by midweek, which will bring additional changes to the local climate.
