A 30-year-old tourist from the United States was arrested on Sunday and charged for allegedly hiding 1.3kg of cocaine worth an estimated value of HK$1.3 million (US$166,290) in his body in Hong Kong.

The man who arrived from New York City was suspected by the customs officers at the Hong Kong International Airport while passing through the customs check on Saturday.
After the authority noted his strange behaviour, he was taken to the hospital for further examination where unusual objects were confirmed hidden inside a particular part of his body cavity. The portion which was not mentioned in the customs department statement, the report said.

The suspect was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug, which carries a maximum penalty of HK$5 million fine and life imprisonment.
The case is arraigned in West Kowloon Court on Monday.
