The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a forecast indicating that minimum temperatures will continue to decrease. It is expected to drop to 12 degrees Celsius and then further to 11 degrees Celsius by Friday. This cold weather is anticipated to persist over the weekend, possibly leading to a cold weather warning.
On Christmas Eve, temperatures will range from 12 to 18 degrees Celsius. There will be a slight warming trend on Christmas Day, with temperatures reaching a high of 19 degrees Celsius. However, this warm period will be short-lived as temperatures will gradually decrease in the following days. Starting from Wednesday (20th), the cold weather, characterized by temperatures of 12 degrees Celsius or lower, is expected to last for five consecutive days.
The Hong Kong Observatory also predicts generally clear and dry conditions for Hong Kong this Friday, although mornings and evenings will be chilly. The temperature is expected to range from 11 to 17 degrees Celsius. Specific district forecasts indicate that several areas in the New Territories will have double-digit temperatures by 7 am. For example, Tai Po and Sha Tin will have 8 degrees Celsius, while Ta Kwu Ling will drop even further to a cold 6 degrees Celsius.
Apart from local weather conditions, there is attention on Tropical Depression Jelawat, which is currently located approximately 910 kilometers southeast of Manila. The depression is projected to move westward at a speed of about 25 kilometers per hour, passing through the southern regions of the Philippines.
As a dry replenishment of the winter monsoon approaches the southern coast of China, weather conditions are expected to improve in the region. Coastal areas of Guangdong are likely to experience generally good weather during the middle and latter parts of the week, accompanied by chilly mornings and evenings. Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Jelawat is expected to move across the southern part of the Philippines and the southern part of the South China Sea in the next few days.
