**8th October 2024 – (Hong Kong)** The Hong Kong police have successfully detonated a 500-pound Japanese aerial bomb from World War II in the waters near Sai Kung. The bomb was discovered by a member of the public last month, leading to swift action by the authorities.
The initial report came on 15th September when a citizen informed the police about a suspected bomb located 13 meters beneath the surface, to the east of Shek Ngau Chau. Following an investigation, police confirmed on 25th September that the object was indeed a WWII-era Japanese bomb.
The detonation was carried out in a well-coordinated operation involving the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau (EOD), the Flying Tigers, the Water Assault Team, the Small Boat Division, and the Marine Police’s North Division and Unmanned Aircraft Team. The controlled explosion took place around 2:46 PM.
Video footage captured the moment of detonation, showcasing a large circular wave that sent water soaring into the air and stirred up sediment from the seabed, giving the surrounding waters a murky appearance. The explosion's force was visibly impressive.

此次引爆是在一個良好協調的行動中進行的,參與單位包括爆炸品處理局(EOD)、飛虎隊、水上突擊隊、小艇科,以及海事警察北區和無人機隊。控制引爆大約在下午2:46進行。
