MTR Corporation responded on Friday to a photo of bedbugs found on an Airport Express train circulating and going viral on the internet.
The Corporation said that it had sent staff to inspect the alleged trains but no similar insects were found on them.
All kinds of comments were made by the netizens on the photo showing the alleged bed bugs on one of the Airport Express train seats. MTR said it had returned the concerned trains to the depot after conducting high-temperature deep cleansing.
The Corporation then assured that the inspections and cleaning will be improved, especially on trains with non-metal seats, and pest control work will be carried out on Airport Express, Disneyland Resort Line and high-speed rail trains, as well as in the first class carriages of East Rail Line trains.
