Missing Matthew found alive after seven days of relentless search

A 17-year-old boy, Matthew who went missing a week ago has been finally found alive today, his parent announced the good news this afternoon.


Matthew is a Form Six pupil at Diocesan Boys’ School in Mong Kok, and had been preparing for his university entrance exams next year, his mother said earlier. He did not return to school after lunchtime last week on Wednesday until the joyous news of being found was announced today by his parent.


Tsang was found at a bush near Lo Shu Tin in Shatin and sustained some scratches on his limbs. He was said to be conscious while being airlifted to the Eastern Hospital for treatment.



“Thanks be to God! We have found Matthew, and he’s alive! We will announce details later. Thanks to everyone!” Amy Chan, mother of Matthew Tsang Hin-chit, wrote on her Facebook page in the afternoon.


Chan expressed her gratitude to the police, firefighters from the mountain search and rescue team, and the Civil Aid Service for their “relentless” efforts.


She also thanked alumni from her son’s school, relatives and volunteer search teams.
