Hong Kong's Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, will be leading a delegation to Sichuan in the coming days to discuss arrangements for the delivery of two giant pandas gifted by Beijing to the city.
According to sources, the meeting with mainland authorities will map out the details for transporting the pandas, as well as planning for their quarantine and naming. An advance team has already arrived at the Dujiangyan base of the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda to prepare for the pandas' arrival.
Yeung recently shared on social media that the Hong Kong government is gearing up for the arrival of the new pandas. He also visited Ocean Park to observe the living conditions of the city's current giant panda residents, Ying Ying and Le Le, expressing confidence that the new pandas will be provided a comfortable and healthy environment in Hong Kong.
The delivery of the new pandas is an anticipated event, as they will be the third pair of giant pandas gifted to Hong Kong by the central government. The details of their transportation, acclimation, and debut in the city will be finalized through the upcoming discussions between the Hong Kong delegation and mainland authorities.
