Writer: AfriHKa AfriHKa

Police are currently searching for an Indonesian domestic worker accused of assaulting an elderly woman, following the viral circulation of a video depicting the incident. The 57-year-old helper is seen in the footage, uploaded by the victim's family, restraining the 81-year-old woman by pressing her hands against her chest and forcefully pushing her legs after she refused a diaper change.

The video further shows the helper gagging the elderly woman with a towel and binding her hands with a yoga strap in response to her struggles. The incident was recorded on March 17 by a surveillance camera, and the family promptly reported it to the police upon discovering the footage. The family also terminated the helper's employment contract immediately.

The victim's daughter reported that her mother's violent treatment resulted in swelling and abrasions to her mouth, along with injuries to her right hand. The elderly woman, who is bedridden due to Lymphoma, had recently been discharged after a seven-month treatment period and was taken to Caritas Medical Centre following the incident.

Authorities have classified the case as assault and wounding and are actively searching for the domestic worker involved. In a separate incident, police received reports of another foreign domestic worker allegedly abusing a five-month-old infant, but the child was found unharmed, leading to the case being categorized as a complaint.
