Hong Kong Immigration department will be moving to a new building in Tseung kwan O as its headquarters from the Immigration Tower in Wan Chai on June 11, authorities said.
The report said that the application for Travel Documents and Nationality section along with the Travel Documents Issuance section which are presently situated on the Immigration Tower’s fourth floor will be moved to the new office on June 11.
In a recent development, the Central office will have 10 machines in service by June 11, eight more than before, and the Tseung Kwan O office will have 20 machines that the public can use to apply for and collect documents.
Additionally, the new immigration building in Tseung Kwan O will also take over from the Kwun Tong Registration of Persons Office, which will close on June 8.
Wong Ka-yee, an assistant principal immigration officer, said that as of May 7, there were 3,800 issued identity cards available for collection at the Kwun Tong office.
Those who have applied for Hong Kong identity cards through the Kwun Tong office can visit a temporary pickup point next to the office for collection.
The temporary facility, which opened in November to help reduce months-long waiting times for replacement ID cards, is expected to remain open until the third quarter of next year, the report stated.
However, Hong Kong Island will have only one office that will be issuing passports and other travel documents from next month.
The other passport issuing centres, which also deal with identity documents for visas and re-entry permits, are in East Kowloon, West Kowloon, Sha Tin, Ho Tan, Tuen Mun and Yuen Long.

當局表示，香港入境事務處將於6月11日從灣仔入境事務大樓遷往將軍澳新大樓為總部。
報道稱，目前位於移民大樓四樓的旅行證件和國籍申請部門以及旅行證件簽發部門將於6月11日遷至新辦公室。
根據最近的發展，中央辦事處將在6月11日之前有10台機器投入使用，比之前增加8台，將軍澳辦事處將有20台機器供公眾申請和領取文件。
此外，將軍澳新出入境大樓也將接替將於6月8日關閉的觀塘人事登記辦公室。
助理首席入境事務主任黃嘉儀表示，截至5月7日，觀塘辦事處共有3,800張已發出的身分證可供領取。
透過觀塘辦事處申請香港身分證的人士，可前往辦事處旁的臨時領取點領取。
報告稱，該臨時設施於 11 月開放，旨在幫助減少更換身分證長達數月的等待時間，預計將開放到明年第三季。
然而，從下個月開始，香港島將只有一個辦事處負責簽發護照和其他旅行證件。
其他護照簽發中心也處理簽證和回港證的身份證明文件，分別位於東九龍、西九龍、沙田、河灘、屯門和元朗。
