Hong Kong woman died after fire broke out in her subdivided flat

A Hong Kong woman died after a fire broke out from her sub-divided flat at Fa Yuen Street building, Mong Kok on Sunday morning.

Police said they arrived at the flat after receiving a report of a fire outbreak with smoke coming from the building at around 6am.

The report said that firefighters found the 45-year-old woman in her bedroom. She was unconscious and taken to the hospital where she was later certified dead.

A witness at the scene told the local news media that the victim lived at a subdivided flat on the ninth floor.

The cause of the fire outbreak was not immediately known but a neighbour in the flat next door said they called police after seeing thick smoke coming out of the victim's room.

The Fire Services Department said a preliminary investigation suggested the case of the fire was not suspicious.

The investigation about the incident is under investigation by the police.
