Hong Kong to Issue T3 Warning Tonight

The Hong Kong Observatory has announced that it will issue the Strong Wind Signal Number 3 between 6 PM and 9 PM today, as Typhoon Yagi approaches the western part of the South China coast.

Currently, Typhoon Yagi is situated approximately 510 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong and is moving westward at about 10 kilometers per hour. The forecast indicates that Yagi will gradually intensify as it moves across the northern South China Sea.

In recent hours, Yagi has been tracking steadily westward and strengthening. The Observatory expects local winds to increase tonight, prompting the consideration of the T3 warning during the specified time.

As Typhoon Yagi continues to approach, winds around the Pearl River Estuary may become even stronger by tomorrow. The Observatory has also indicated that Yagi could reach severe typhoon or super typhoon intensity.

Depending on Yagi's movement and intensity changes, the Observatory will evaluate the need to issue higher tropical cyclone warning signals between tomorrow afternoon and evening. Currently, the Standby Signal Number 1 is in effect.
