In Mulam Autonomous County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwest China, two Mulam ethnic girls are playing a traditional bamboo ball game. This sport integrates the skills of football, basketball, and rugby, and is very popular among the local people. Playing bamboo ball is not only a competition for them, but also a kind of celebration.
On the campus of Longtan Primary School in Guizhou Province, a group of 46 teachers and students from Hong Kong played bamboo ball with local friends. Hong Kong student Carson Chen received cheers from the crowd when he turned and leapt to throw the ball into the basket. "This activity requires adaptability and team cooperation. The whole process is very interesting," he said.
The visit of Hong Kong teachers and students is one of the main activities of their cultural study in Guizhou. Longtan Village, where the primary school is located, has a history of more than 700 years. Shen Wenbin, a fifth-grade student at Longtan Primary School, introduced Gelao culture, food, and language to the visitors, who also learned traditional skills like paper-cutting and making their own bamboo balls.
Hong Kong student Rick Yeung said, "The principle of weaving seems easy, but the bamboo strips are quite hard, so it's difficult to control them like threading a needle."
Another Hong Kong student, Simon Ng, added, "The activity allows us to feel the Chinese cultural heritage and understand the importance of inheriting and developing the national culture, which is an unforgettable journey."

这次香港师生的到访是他们在贵州进行文化学习的主要活动之一。龙潭村有700多年历史。该小学五年级学生沈文斌向香港师生介绍了仡佬族的文化、饮食和语言,他们还学习了传统手工艺,如剪纸和制作自己的竹球。
香港学生杨瑞深说:"编织的原理看起来很简单,但竹条很硬,控制起来就像穿针一样困难。"
另一名香港学生吴思敏说:"这次活动让我们感受到中国文化的厚重,也理解了继承和发展国家文化的重要性,这是一次难忘的旅程。"
