Chris Tang, the Secretary for Security in Hong Kong, announced the successful rescue of a 29-year-old Hong Kong man from Myanmar. The individual is currently safe in Thailand, and a government team has been dispatched to assist with his return to Hong Kong. Discussions with the Thai consulate concerning this operation have also been conducted.

Tang expressed gratitude to a local supporter who has been providing psychological assistance to the families of those trapped in Myanmar's scam operations. He refrained from naming former district councillor Andy Yu Tai-po but cautioned against spreading information without full understanding, while acknowledging the individual’s efforts.

To date, 17 individuals have returned to Hong Kong, with ten still awaiting assistance. The rescued man had been lured to Myanmar for illegal work last October and was freed just days prior to the announcement. Notably, he did not pay any ransom and was found without identification or cash.

Chief Executive John Lee addressed reporters, highlighting the extensive efforts of the dedicated task force. Initially, 28 individuals were reported as captives, with 16 having been rescued before this latest operation. Following intensified efforts, two additional individuals were freed, leaving ten still in need of help.

In related news, lawmaker Joephy Chan Wing-yan faced criticism for accusing former opposition district councillor Andy Yu Tak-po of exploiting the situation of scam farm victims in Southeast Asia for personal political gain. Internet users have responded strongly to Chan’s comments, which suggested that Yu was “pretending to be constructive” while harboring ulterior motives. Yu has denied these allegations and stated he has no intentions of running for election, despite assisting the families of two men who returned to Hong Kong. In a YouTube video, Chan implied that Yu might be positioning himself for the upcoming Legislative Council election.
