Hong Kong:The Commissioner of Police, Raymond Siu on Saturday    (18th of November, 2023) warned that the decriminalisation of some drugs overseas meant some young people were less vigilant and underestimated the consequences of drug use.

The Commissioner who spoke at the opening of a two-day anti-drug exhibition titled “Love Our Life - LOL Party 2023”, at the West Kowloon Cultural District was missioned to enlighten the public about the dangers in using drugs, especially young ones.

He said the harm of drugs on society was beyond doubt, not only causing irreversible health damage but also destroying young people’s future and their families.

But he also said that he was being encouraged by a drop in the rate of offences committed by young ones in the city concerning drug use in the first three quarters of this year. He said the result revealed the

effectiveness of anti-drug publicity and education work over the past year by the authority.

He added that the number of young people under 21 years arrested for serious drug offences was 130 and that is the lowest in ten years.

The programs arranged for this weekend's exhibition include talks from former drug users and will include activities such as rope skipping performances, fitness sessions, and music.
