The bizarre accidents whereby two drivers were killed by their vehicles in separate incidents on Wednesday at an hour interval in the city are being looked into by Hong Kong police.
Police said the first incident that was reported to them occurred on Wednesday around 4 pm in which the 47-year-old driver of a school bus accidentally fell out of his vehicle while trying to pay through Octopus card to exit the car park of a housing estate on Hammer Hill Road was being rolled over by his vehicle and killed.
The reports said he was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with multiple injuries and gradually became unconscious before he was confirmed dead at 9.39 pm by the doctor.
The second incident was said to be reported at 6:35 pm in Tin Shui Wai through which a 67-year-old driver was trapped between the container truck and several water tanks as he jumped out from his vehicle that was suddenly moving backwards from a sloppy area, the report said.
He suffered multiple injuries and was certified dead at the scene, police said.
Police appealed for witnesses to come forward if they had known about any of these incidents.
The force’s Kowloon at East special investigation team for traffic is investigating the first case, with witnesses urged to contact them via 3661 0264 or 3661 0277 while officers from the New Territories North Special investigation team for traffic are investigating the second case, witnesses urged to contact police at 36613800.
