Hong Kong police are after 5 men who robbed a mainland Chinese traveller of HK$1 million (US$127,861) in Hung Hom



At least five suspects are being hunted by the Hong Kong police for robbing a mainland Chinese man of HK$1 million in the Hung Hom area on Thursday.


According to the force, the theft occurred in Hang Fung Industrial Building on Hok Yuen Street, Hung Hom at around 5.14 pm, Thursday and the man who was robbed has been identified by the police as a 41-year-old man from mainland China, holding a two-way permit, a travel document that allows holders to enter Hong Kong.


The investigation by the police after the robbery discovered that the victim was on the course of taking the money for a cryptocurrency transaction on the 9th floor of the building.


Police said that the robbers are five men and their ages are believed to be between 30 and 40, with two of the group holding knives during the robbery.


Police added that no casualties were reported in the incident.



Robbery is defined as stealing (as defined under section 9 of the Theft Ordinance), in Hong Kong and immediately before or at the time of doing so, and to do so, using force on any person or putting or seeking to put any person in fear of being then and there subjected to force. The maximum sentence for robbery in Hong Kong carries life imprisonment.

警方表示,週四下午5時14分左右,紅磡鶴園街恆豐工業大廈發生盜竊案,被搶劫男子經警方確認為一名41歲中國內地男子,持有雙向許可證,允許持有人進入香港的旅行證件。


搶劫發生後,警方調查發現,受害者當時正在大樓9樓提取加密貨幣交易資金。


警方表示,劫匪是五名男子,年齡據信在30至40歲之間,其中兩人在搶劫時攜帶刀具。


警方補充說,事件中沒有人員傷亡的報告。
