The Hong Kong Observatory has announced that it will issue Standby Signal No. 1 between 8 PM and midnight tonight in response to the approaching Tropical Cyclone Toraji. Currently, the cyclone is moving across Luzon and is expected to come within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong.
Over the next few days, Toraji is projected to approach the western coast of Guangdong and the Pearl River Estuary. Due to the combined effects of the cyclone and the northeast monsoon, local winds are anticipated to strengthen, bringing squally showers.
The Observatory has also indicated that there may be consideration for issuing Strong Wind Signal No. 3 between tomorrow, November 12, and early Wednesday, November 13.
As of noon today, Typhoon Toraji was located about 260 kilometers north-northeast of Manila, moving west-northwest at approximately 22 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Yinxing is around 130 kilometers west of Xisha and is forecast to move southwest towards central Vietnam, where it is expected to dissipate. Additionally, an area of low pressure near Yap is developing, with the potential for a new tropical cyclone.
This afternoon’s weather is expected to feature sunny periods, transitioning to mainly cloudy conditions tonight, with moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh offshore and on high ground.
