The three types of Quaker Oatmeal Squares (honey nut, cinnamon and original flavour)
Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety sent a warning on Wednesday to the public to stop the consumption of three imported oatmeal products.
These three oatmeal products were reported to be US-made and they have been contaminated with the bacteria called salmonella.
The warning came six days after American authorities issued a warning over the bacteria.
The Hong Kong food safety watchdog said the products involved were three types of Quaker Oatmeal Squares (honey nut, cinnamon and original flavour) in 14.5-ounce sizes and imported by PepsiCo Beverages, Hong Kong having expiry dates between January 11 and October 1, 2024.
The food safety centre had directed the retailers and businesses to stop selling or using these products right away. It said PepsiCo was recalling the products sold in Hong Kong while taking the stock off shelves.
It was said that the symptoms of being infected with salmonella bacteria might be fever and gastrointestinal discomforts, such as vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
It was added that the infants, young ones, anyone with weak immunity and the elderly that are infected could be more severe and may even lead to death.
Hong Kong’s food safety body said consumers should contact the importer’s hotline at 2236 5480 during office hours for inquiries about the recall.

香港食物安全中心週三向民眾發出警告，要求停止食用三種進口燕麥產品。
據報道，這三種燕麥產品是美國製造的，已被沙門氏菌污染。
這項警告是在美國當局針對這種細菌發出警告六天後發出的。
香港食品安全監管機構表示，涉案產品為香港百事可樂飲料公司進口的三種桂格燕麥片（蜂蜜堅果、肉桂和原味），規格為 14.5 盎司，有效期為 2024 年 1 月 11 日至 10 月 1 日。。
食品安全中心已指示零售商和企業立即停止銷售或使用這些產品。 據稱，百事公司正在召回在香港銷售的產品，同時將庫存下架。
據稱，感染沙門氏菌的症狀可能是發燒和腸胃不適，例如嘔吐、腹痛和腹瀉。
補充說，嬰兒、幼兒、免疫力較弱的人和老年人被感染後，病情可能會更加嚴重，甚至可能導致死亡。
香港食品安全機構表示，消費者應於辦公時間致電進口商熱線2236 5480，查詢召回事宜。
