HK Express Airline said on Tuesday that eight of its earlier scheduled flights between Hong Kong and Taipei, Taiwan on the 24th and 25th of July have been cancelled as a result of Typhoon Gaemi.
The affected flights are UO110, UO112, UO114, and UO116 from Hong Kong to Taipei, and UO111, UO113, UO115, UO117 from Taipei to Hong Kong.
The airline said two flights to and from Okinawa (UO820 and UO 821) on Wednesday will also be delayed.
According to the report from the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Gaemi started to cause flight and ferry disruptions on Tuesday even as it was still hundreds of kilometres from the island's shores.
As of 10 a.m., four domestic flights had been cancelled, the ministry said, though no international or cross-strait flights were affected.
Meanwhile, 24 ferry services on seven routes will be cancelled throughout the day, including 20 domestic services and four ferry services to China, it said.
As of 1 p.m., the 200-kilometre-radius storm was located 470 kilometres east-southeast of Eluanbi, Taiwan's southernmost tip, moving at 22 kilometres per hour (kph) in a north-northwesterly direction, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Gaemi was carrying sustained winds of 144 kph, with gusts of up to 180 kph, the CWA said.
香港快運航空因颱風「嘉美」取消八班航班
香港快運航空週二表示，受颱風「蓋美」影響，其早先於 7 月 24 日至 25 日往返香港和台灣台北的 8 趟航班已被取消。
