High-speed sleeper trains to start running on June 15 from Hong Kong at night, arrive in Beijing and Shanghai in the morning


High-speed trains with sleeping facilities will start to operate overnight journeys from the 15th of June between Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, an effort that will further boost integration with mainland China, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong said.


According to the China Railway announcement on Tuesday, there would be a replacement and upgrading of the train running between Hung Hom in Hong Kong and the two mainland cities which will make the travelling time reduced by half.


The report said that high-speed trains departing from Hong Kong’s West Kowloon terminus will just take around 12½ hours to get to Beijing West Station and 11 hours and 14 minutes to arrive at Shanghai Hongqiao Station.


The Beijing-bound train will depart at 6.24 pm each day from Hong Kong and arrive in the capital at 6.53 am the next day, while the service to Shanghai will leave at 7.49 pm, arriving there at 6.45 am the following morning. Return trains will also run, it was stated.


Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu welcomed the new arrangement and expressed gratitude to the central government and China Railway for their “care”.


“The new train services are convenient and fast. It will drastically save travelling time and only take a half-day to arrive, which will also help one save on the hotel cost,” said Lee ahead of his weekly meeting with his advisers in the government’s key decision-making Executive Council.


“It has significant meaning in fostering the people-to-people, business-to-business exchanges and the integration between Hong Kong and the mainland.”


Mr Lee also said he had tasked the Logistic and Transport Bureau as well as the MTR Corporation to implement the new measures well.


The MTR Corp said fares on the Beijing-bound train D910 and its return train D909 on Saturday, June 15, and on Monday, June 17, were pegged at HK$1,031 (US$132) for upper deck sleepers, HK$1,163 for lower deck sleepers and HK$937 for ordinary seats.


Sleeper fares will be about 12 per cent higher on Sunday, June 16 on Beijing-bound train D910.

Fares will be HK$1,163 for an upper deck berth, and HK$1,306 for a lower deck one. The standard fare for a seat on the train will remain at HK$937.


For the Hong Kong-bound train D909, the upper deck sleeping berth will cost HK$1,284, and the lower deck one will be priced at HK$1,448 and will also retain the HK$937 standard seat cost.


The D908 service to Shanghai and its return D907 service will make its debut on June 15.


There are more types of fares on these services, with the lowest HK$682 for an ordinary seat, HK$878 for an upper deck sleeper and HK$987 for a lower deck one.


A premium upper deck sleeper will cost HK$1,613, with a lower deck one priced at HK$1,821. These prices will apply to both June 15 and 17 for the Shanghai-bound trains.

Fares on the Shanghai-bound D908 and its return D907 service on June 16 will start from HK$682 for an ordinary seat. An upper deck sleeper will cost HK$1,009 and a lower deck sleeper will be priced at $141.


The price for a premium upper deck berth will be HK$1,887 and HK$2,128 for a lower deck one.


Tickets will go on sale from noon on Wednesday, June 5 at the website 12306 China Railway and its 12306 app.


Prices for services after June 17 will be announced on the website.




高鐵臥舖6月15日晚起香港出發,上午抵達北京、上海



香港行政長官表示,設有臥舖設施的高鐵將於6月15日開始營運往來香港、北京和上海的過夜旅程,此舉將進一步促進與中國內地的融合。


根據中國鐵路週二發布的消息,香港紅磡與內地兩個城市之間的列車將進行更換和升級,行車時間將減少一半。


報道稱,從香港西九龍總站出發的高鐵僅需約12.5小時即可到達北京西站,到達上海虹橋站僅需11小時14分鐘。


往北京的列車將於每天下午6.24從香港出發,隔天早上6.53抵達首都;往上海的列車將於晚上7.49出發,隔天早上6.45抵達首都。 據稱,返程列車也將運行。


行政長官李家超對新安排表示歡迎,並感謝中央政府和中國鐵路總公司的「關懷」。


「新的火車服務方便快速。 這將大大節省旅行時間,只需半天即可到達,這也將有助於節省酒店費用,」李在與政府關鍵決策執行委員會的顧問舉行每週會議之前表示。


“這對於促進香港與內地的人文、企業交流和融合具有重要意義。”


李先生也表示,他已責成物流運輸局和港鐵公司落實好新措施。


港鐵公司表示,6 月 15 日星期六和 6 月 17 日星期一前往北京的 D910 次列車及其返程列車 D909 號列車的上層臥舖票價為 1,031 港元(132 美元),下層臥舖票價為 1,163 港元普通座位港幣937元。


6月16日星期日,前往北京的D910列車臥舖票價將上漲約12%。


上層泊位票價為港幣 1,163 元,下層泊位票價為 1,306 港幣。 火車座位的標準票價仍為937港元。


前往香港的D909號列車,上層臥舖票價為1,284港元,下層臥舖票價為1,448港元,並保留標準座位費937港元。


往返上海的D908航班及回程的D907航班將於6月15日首航。


票價種類較多,最低普通座位港幣682元、上層臥舖港幣878元、下層臥舖港幣987元。


高級上層臥舖車廂售價為 1,613 港元,下層臥舖車廂售價為 1,821 港元。 上述價格適用於6月15日至17日開往上海的列車。


6月16日起,往上海方向的D908及其回程D907航班普通座位票價由港幣682元起。


上層臥舖票價為港幣 1,009 元,下層臥舖票價為港幣 1,141 元。


上層高級泊位的價格為1,887港元,下層甲板泊位的價格為2,128港元。


車票將於6月5日星期三中午在中國鐵路12306網站及其12306客戶端發售。


6月17日後的服務價格將在網站上公佈.
