Five men were apprehended by the Hong Kong police in a failed robbery that occurred at a watch and jewellery store in the Tsim Sha Tsui shopping district on Tuesday, SCMP reported.
According to the reports by the source familiar with the case, officers were called to the VIP Station store along Haiphong Road, Tsim Sha Shui just before noon as four of the suspects went into the the shop. A fifth man was arrested outside the store, he added.
“An initial investigation established that the gang was having a knife and what seemed to be a handgun at the time,” the insider said.
It was reported that the officers apprehended at least four men at the scene, adding no shots were fired during the incident.
Another source said the arrests were made after officers laid an ambush for the group.
The area has been cordoned off by the officers while detectives gather more information about the failed robbery.

據《南華早報》報道，週二，尖沙咀購物區一家手錶珠寶店發生一起未遂搶劫案，五名男子被香港警方逮捕。
據知情人士透露，中午時分，警員被傳喚到尖沙咀海防道的 VIP Station 店，當時四名嫌疑人進入店內。 他補充說，第五名男子在商店外被捕。
