Dump truck driver killed after his head was caught between his vehicle and the excavator at Hong Kong construction site

Hong Kong police are investigating if negligence involved after dump truck driver was killed in an accident at a Hong Kong construction site on Thursday, whereby the victim's head was crushed between his vehicle and dredging machine.

According to the police, the victim, 42- year-old had been working between his vehicle and a dredging machine at around 9.59 a.m at the Lai Kong Street site in Kwai Chung when the incident happened.

“A preliminary investigation indicated that during the rotation of the excavator’s operation cabin, the driver was struck and pinned between the truck and the rotating compartment,” police  said.

The report said the victim’s head was badly crushed. The emergency services were called immediately and the man was freed from the trap  but confirmed dead by paramedics at the scene.

The report said no arrest had been made as at noon but police were investigating whether the excavator operator was negligent.

The case had been classified as an industrial accident and the Labour Department had been notified and conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident, the report added.

報道稱，截至中午尚未逮捕任何人，但警方正在調查挖土機操作員是否有疏失。

報告補充說，該案件已被列為工業事故，並已通知勞工部並對事故原因進行調查。
