Celebrating International Women's Day in Mainland China: Flower Sales Surge and Festive Preparations

As International Women's Day approaches, preparations are underway to celebrate and honor women. Various industries, such as flower farming, catering, and tourism, are experiencing a surge in consumer activity.

In Yunnan Province, a major flower-producing region, flower farmers are bustling with activity. Distributors have reported a significant increase in rose sales.

A representative from a flower base in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, mentioned, "This year's sales for the March 8th Festival are very promising, with overall sales more than doubling compared to the previous year."

A flower shop owner in Guangzhou has doubled their purchases in anticipation of International Women's Day. Despite a slight increase in prices, the owner remains optimistic about sales.

Explaining the price adjustments, another Guangzhou flower shop owner stated, "The price has been adjusted by one-third. This is mainly due to wholesalers increasing their prices."

Another flower shop owner in Guangzhou highlighted, "Some customers have placed orders for 1,000 flowers at eight yuan (RMB) per piece. There are also customers who order 30 or 40 flowers without bargaining, and they pay ten yuan (per piece)."

Several restaurants have reported that their reservation rates for Women's Day have surpassed 50%.

A Guangzhou flower shop owner shared, "Many companies are making advance reservations for tables or private rooms to treat the women in their organizations to tea and dinner."

In an attempt to attract female customers, some cake shops are offering pink cakes. Additionally, some individuals plan to take advantage of the holiday by expressing gratitude to their mothers through small gifts or meals.

A resident of Guangzhou expressed, "Although it is Women's Day, it is also like a mini Mother's Day. I might take my mother out for a meal or give her a small gift."

Many scenic spots in Guangzhou have announced discounted ticket prices for female tourists on Women's Day, and some may even offer free admission.
