However, since the lock was too tight, he found that he could not unlock it. His wife was shocked by the situation and went with him to the nearby Wan Chai Fire Station to seek help. Firefighters quickly intervened and successfully freed him from the handcuffs using specialized tools.
Subsequently, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. As handcuffs are classified as controlled items, the 47-year-old British man was arrested on suspicion of "possession of an offensive weapon".
