Hong Kong leader, John Lee Ka-chiu announced at a reception held in the Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday that the central government is ready to send two giant pandas to Hong Kong to mark this year occasion of 27th anniversary of city's handing over to mainland China and also as the effort to boost city's tourism trade.
Mr John Lee showed his sincere gratitude to the Beijing for extending its care and support for Hong Kong in terms of sending the pair of giant pandas.
“The two pairs of giant pandas given by the central government in the past have accompanied generations of Hong Kong people, which is the collective memory of all,” Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said.
“The new pair of giant pandas will become close ‘family members’ of Hong Kong people, bringing us laughter and joy,” Lee added.
Meanwhile, Ocean Park has also expressed its happiness over the central government’s decision to send two pandas to Hong Kong as gifts.
Ocean Park is full of gratitude for the trust placed in the corporation by the central government and the HKSAR government to care for our national treasures.
The information on the arrangements to welcome the giant pandas to Hong Kong will be announced in due course, the report said.
北京準備送兩隻大貓熊到香港
香港特首李家超週一在會展中心舉行的招待會上宣布,中央政府準備送兩隻大熊貓來香港,慶祝今年香港回歸祖國27週年中國也以此為契機,提振城市旅遊貿易。
李家超對北京送來這對大熊貓對香港的關心和支持表示衷心感謝。
行政長官李家超表示,過去中央政府贈送的兩對大熊貓陪伴了幾代香港人,是大家的集體記憶。
李補充說:“這對新大熊貓將成為香港人親密的‘家人’,為我們帶來歡笑和歡樂。”
同時,海洋公園也對中央政府決定送兩隻大貓熊到香港作為禮物表示the 高興。
