Two women from Hong Kong have been arrested for attempting to smuggle mobile phones into Macao. The arrests were part of separate cases that occurred on January 3rd and 4th.
The smuggling attempts took place at the Gongbei Port of Entry and the Macao Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. A total of 240 phones were confiscated. The arrested individuals, aged between 37 and 60, now face charges and could be fined up to MOP 50,000.
One woman was found to have concealed 106 phones on her person and in her carry-on luggage, while the other woman had hidden 50 phones around her waist. In a separate incident, a female traveler was apprehended at the Gongbei Port with 34 phones bound to her waist, thighs, and calves. Another male traveler was caught with 50 phones concealed around his waist and thighs.
