An American citizen named Robert Woodland has been arrested in Moscow on drug-related charges, according to a statement from the Russian court.
Woodland is accused of preparing and attempting a crime, as well as illegal drug dealing. The court has ordered his detention for a period of two months. Woodland, who is reportedly of Russian origin and was adopted by American scientists, returned to Russia after 27 years.
He has previously spoken about his upbringing in the United States and his happiness with his adoptive parents. This arrest follows a series of detentions of US citizens in Russia, including a Wall Street Journal reporter.
