Hong Kong - On Friday (17th), a 31-year-old woman from Sweden made a report that she was allegedly raped by a local man in a hotel in Wan Chai District at around 6:30 a.m. that day. Wan Chai District investigators took over the case and subsequently arrested a local man believed to be related to the case on Saturday (18th) for rape. Currently, the suspect has been detained pending further investigation.
According to sources, the female victim is a Swedish tourist working in the information technology field. She arrived in Hong Kong on Thursday (16th) with her passport. Before the incident, she had dinner and drinks with her ex-boyfriend in Central and Wan Chai. At about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, the victim was semi-conscious and waiting alone for a taxi in Wan Chai when a man approached her and talked to her. The victim then followed the man to a makeshift hotel on Lockhart Road.
About ten minutes later, after checking in, the man grabbed the victim's arm and took her into a room, where she was allegedly raped. The victim left the hotel at about 8 a.m. and sought help from her ex-boyfriend, who accompanied her to Central to report the crime on the same day. After investigation, law enforcement officers determined the identity of the male suspect and was arrested in Chai Wan on Sunday (19th).
