A man died after his leg was cut off by a boat while swimming in Hong Kong waters

A swimming Hong Kong man died on Thursday morning near Tai Po after being hit by a small boat which broke off one of his legs.


According to the police report, the victim who was over 30 years of age was swimming in the waters between Sam Mun Tsai in Tai Po and Ma On Shan when he was hit by a small, traditional Chinese wooden boat, known as Sampan.


The report said he got a severe injury on one of his legs. He was rushed by the emergency service to the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin, where he was confirmed dead at 9.16 am.


The force arrested a man in his 40s who was driving the sampan for endangering the safety of others at sea.


The offence carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison and a fine of HK$200,000 according to the law.

週四早上,一名游泳的香港男子在大埔附近被一艘小船撞到,導致一條腿折斷,不幸身亡。


根據警方通報,30多歲的受害者當時在大埔三門仔至馬鞍山之間的水域游泳時,被

一艘名為舢舨的中國傳統小木船撞倒。


報道稱,他的一條腿受了重傷。 緊急服務人員將他送往沙田威爾斯親王醫院,並於上午9時16分證實死亡。


警方逮捕一名駕駛舢舨的四十多歲男子,罪名是危害海上他人安全。


根據法律,該罪行最高可判處四年監禁及罰款港幣二十萬元。
