A joint Hong Kong departmental operation saw 37 arrested over illegal employment

37 people were arrested on Wednesday by the collaborated efforts of the police, Immigration and Labour Department for the crime of overstaying their visa limit and working illegally in Hong Kong.



Those that were caught included people from mainland China, Vietnam Pakistan and Thailand aged between 22-60 years old. They comprised 13 men and 9 women from mainland China, 3 Vietnamese men, 1 Pakistani man and 3 Thai women. Among them are also 8 local men.


Their offences range from suspicion of breaking conditions of their stay and employed workers who do not have work permits and people on the removal order conditions to those holding false documents. 


Further anti-vice raid was conducted by the authorities in Tsuen Wan where 9 women were apprehended, 6 from mainland China and 3 from Thailand for breaking their condition of stay.


Police said they are all remanded in custody and some of them will be referred to the Immigration Department for further follow-up actions.


In Hong Kong, it is a serious offence to employ people who are not lawfully employable. The offenders are liable to prosecution and upon conviction face a maximum penalty of a $100,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison.

警方、入境處及勞工處週三聯手逮捕37人,罪名是逾期居留及非法在港工作罪。


被捕者包括來自中國大陸、越南、巴基斯坦和泰國的人,年齡介於22歲至60歲。 他們包括來自中國大陸的13名男性和9名女性、3名越南男性、1名巴基斯坦男性和3名泰國女性。 其中還有8名當地男子。


他們的罪行包括涉嫌違反居留條件、僱用沒有工作許可證的工人、符合驅逐令條件的人以及持有虛假證件的人。



當局在荃灣進一步展開掃黃行動,拘捕9名女子,其中6名來自中國內地,3名來自泰國,因違反逗留條件而被捕。


警方表示,他們都已被還押,部分人將移交入境事務處進一步跟進。


在香港,僱用不合法受僱的人是嚴重違法行為。 違法者將被起訴,一經定罪,最高可面臨 10 萬美元罰款和最高 10 年監禁。
