A consignment with cocaine concealed in frozen chicken feet worth HK$230m was seized by HK customs

The cocaine worth HK$230 million concealed in a consignment of frozen chicken feet from Santo,  Brazil was seized by Hong Kong customs, authorities announced.


The Hong Kong customs spokesperson, Superintendent Henry Fong Heung-wing said an investigation after the discovery revealed the sole proprietor of a local trading company connected to the crime and has been arrested.


The cat was let out of the bag when X-rays of the cargo prompted the officers to open and check the container for more investigation last week Thursday at the Kwai Chung Customs House examination compound.



Therefore,  302kg of concealed cocaine was discovered in the consignment of 1,800 boxes of frozen chicken feet, according to the Customs and Excise Department.


The superintendent said the illegal drug was found hidden in 63 of the boxes and each contained two bags of the frozen product.


The consignment was the biggest seizure of illegal drugs customs uncovered this year, customs said


On Tuesday afternoon, customs officers caught the proprietor of the company in North Point and he was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking. The crime is punishable by up to life imprisonment and a HK$5 million fine.


The investigation was still ongoing and more arrests were possible, customs said.

海關當局宣布,香港海關檢獲一批來自巴西桑託的冷凍雞爪,藏匿價值2.3億港元的可卡因。

香港海關發言人方向榮警司表示,發現後進行的調查顯示,當地一家貿易公司的獨資東主與這起犯罪事件有關,並已被捕。

上週四,當貨物的 X 光檢查促使官員在葵涌海關檢查院打開並檢查集裝箱進行進一步調查時,這隻貓被從袋子裡放了出來。

據香港海關稱,在這批1,800箱冷凍雞腳的貨物中,發現了302公斤隱藏的可卡因。

負責人表示,在 63 個盒子中發現了藏有非法藥物的物品,每個盒子裡裝有兩袋冷凍產品。

海關稱,這批貨物是今年海關查獲的最大一起非法毒品案件

週二下午,海關人員在北角抓獲該公司東主,並因涉嫌販毒而被拘留。 該罪行最高可判處無期徒刑及罰款500萬港元。

海關表示,調查仍在進行中,可能會逮捕更多人。
