The discovery revealed that she is male, biologically.
According to the report, the woman has been worried since the onset of puberty without menstruating and delayed breast development.
Consequently, the distressing occurrence instigated her to go for a check-up when she was 18 at the local hospital where she was diagnosed with abnormal hormone levels and potential ovarian failure.
During that period, it was reported that doctors advised and recommended a follow-up chromosome test. However, the doctor's statements were not taken seriously.
Lately, the shocking news came to light after an advanced examination by a gynaecologist before her wedding preparations that got a rare disorder called congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).
The doctor's reports finally confirmed she had male chromosomes, but looked female.
She was described by the doctor to be socially female but in terms of chromosome composition, she is male.
The report said in early April that she underwent the dangerous surgery and had the hidden testicle removed successfully after the doctor suggested an immediate surgical removal and the fact that it could pose a cancer risk.
She now requires regular follow-up tests and long-term hormone therapy.
According to the research, it is only about 1 in 50,000 newborns that have this form of CAH.
