According to the report, a concerned citizen witnessed the elderly man, surnamed Ng, viciously beating the pigeon with his cane on August 5th. The citizen immediately reported the incident to the police.
Animal rights group "Hong Kong Pigeon and Dove Rescue" was also informed and provided video footage from the citizen's dashcam to the authorities.
After investigating the incident, the police arrested the 93-year-old man on suspicion of animal abuse. He has been released on bail and is required to report back to the police in early September.
