The incident of a 7-year-old boy who drowned in a Hong Kong hotel’s swimming pool is being investigated by the Hong Kong police as there was a suspicion of child neglect.
According to the statement from the source familiar with the case reported by SCMP, it was said that the deceased and his brother were taken by their 49-year-old daddy to their Gold Coast Hotel in Tuen Mun to swim at around 10 am on Monday.
The source said further that the seven-year-old boy was found unconscious in the hotel’s swimming pool at around 10:50 am.
The police in their report said the boy was taken out of the pool by his father while the source said cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was carried out to resuscitate him by a lifeguard and a doctor.
Afterwards, the boy was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital where he died on the same day around 2 pm, the report said.
However, the preliminary investigation by the police suggested that the boy accidentally drowned while swimming and the autopsy would be carried out to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police have classified the case temporarily as child neglect, an offence which is punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.
The detectives from the Tuen Mun criminal investigation unit were handling the case. No arrest has been made, police said.
