A man driving a container truck was killed on Wednesday on a Hong Kong bridge after crashing his vehicle into a road barrier on the Kowloon-bound Tsuen Wan Road bridge and fell off.
According to the police reports, the truck was heading towards Kwai Chung when the crash happened at 12.04 am.
The emergency services responded to the calls and arrived at the scene to find the 66-year-old driver motionless on Hoi Shing Road, down the bridge, according to the report.
He was said to have suffered many injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.
“Upon approaching Chai Wan Kok Cooked Food Market, the articulated vehicle reportedly lost control and rammed into the railings. The driver fell out from the vehicle,” the police spokesperson said.
The video circulating online revealed the moment when the driver banged into the road barrier situated on the left of the Kowloon-bound Tsuen Wan Road flyover and suddenly turned right then mounted on the central divider before it tumbled onto its left side.
The investigation has been taken over by the Territories South traffic unit and police have urgently asked for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at 3661 1346.
