MANILA - 34 Filipinos stranded in the armed conflict in Gaza have arrived in Manila, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Saturday (November 11).

The Filipinos, mostly spouses and dependents of Palestinian nationals, entered Egypt from Gaza through the Rafah border bridge and then flew to the Philippines, according to the foreign ministry.

DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo thanked Israel, Egypt and Qatar for facilitating the return of the 34 Filipinos.

"This would not have been possible without the determination and courage of our people in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially those in our embassies in Tel Aviv, Cairo and Amman," Manalo said.

"We are also very grateful to Israel, Egypt and Qatar for providing assistance in the departure of our nationals," he added.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said arrangements were being made for more Filipinos to leave Gaza and that another group of Filipinos was currently being processed at the Rafah crossing.
