On 1st July 2024, police have laid a holding charge against a 32-year-old woman, accusing her of one count of murder. The arrest is in connection with a suspected murder that occurred on 29th June in Lohas Park, Tseung Kwan O, where her 30-year-old husband lost his life.
According to the authorities, the police received a report about the incident from the suspect's father-in-law at 11:50 PM on Saturday. Responding promptly, the police arrived at the scene to find the man on the sofa, suffering from neck injuries. He was immediately transported to Tseung Kwan O Hospital in an unconscious state but was pronounced dead shortly after 12:30 AM.
During a press briefing, Assistant District Commander Tsang Chun-kit revealed that preliminary investigations indicate the woman may have been grappling with depression following the birth of her son. "We need to thoroughly investigate her motive. The mental state of the suspect is one of the key areas that our investigation will focus on. This is because the suspect experienced significant depression after giving birth to her son. She had sought regular treatment from a private doctor," Tsang explained.
The couple had been married for five years and did not appear to have any financial difficulties, according to Tsang. At the time of the incident, their one-and-a-half-year-old son was under the care of his paternal grandfather.
The case will be brought before the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts tomorrow morning, 2nd July. As the investigation continues, authorities will delve into the circumstances leading up to the tragic event, seeking a comprehensive understanding of the suspect's mental state and motive.
